About
Tennessee Jones-Phillips (b. 1999, Toronto, Canada) is a London-based artist whose intuitive, self-taught practice spans various methods and mediums. Her work evolves organically from a place of curiosity, play, and an affinity for knowledge. Within her visual practice, she employs scanography, illustration, and assemblage, breathing life into her creations through an adaptive, environment-driven methodology—using only what is available to her.
Rooted in culturally significant folklore, Catholic ‘gnostic truths,’ and her spiritual beliefs, Tennessee seeks to build an anthology: a realm where she manifests her dreams and experiments—an ever-evolving Fastness with its own unique ecosystem.
Over the past three years, Tennessee has been deeply experimenting with sound and performance, particularly through lyricism. This exploration led to the formation of her London-based rock band, IMISMMYMOM. Through her multidisciplinary approach, she aims to heal both personal and ancestral traumas, creating works that redefine her understanding of liminal worlds and her place within them.
